FAQ's

How accessible is the campsite & facilities?
Due to the nature of the event being held in a field, we recommend getting in touch with us if you have specific needs. We can organise for an accessible tent pitch to be closest to facilities. There are slight ridges/small steps into the existing facilities on-site. We will have one Accessible Toilet & Wet Room available. We can share photos of the site with you to help you determine if you'd be comfortable.
If you require specific accessibility support or modifications, please get in touch with us ahead of booking via email at hello@thequeercampfire.co.uk and we will do our very best to accommodate different disabilities with the budget we have.
We do offer Carer's Tickets free of charge, so if you secure a ticket, please get in touch with us and we'll sort it out. We will ask to see one of the following: A DLA/AA/PIP award letter, Blue Badge, D/Deaf or Blind registration, the Access Card or equivalent.

What facilities are at the campsite?
Our campsite has a few home comforts to keep you feeling your best over the weekend. Please take a look at our facilities page here.
Can I bring my dog?
Our host site is an active wildlife programme, therefore only Guide Dogs and support animals are allowed on site.

IS ACCESS TO PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS INCLUDED IN MY TICKET?
Yes - all of our performances will be in the main barn on-site and our workshops come at no extra cost. There will be some pop-up services such as Massages and Hair-cuts too, for an additional cost.
Can I bring a straight ally?
Due to the limited number of spaces at our events, we prioritise spaces for LGBTQ+ campers over straight allies. In the future we hope to welcome allies!
What ages are welcome?
All ages are welcome! We've had people from 18 to 60+ years old.
I’m nervous turning up solo, will there be others?
You’re only solo until you turn up at that campsite gate - we’ll be there to welcome you on-site and help you pitch up. We’ll do our best to pitch solo campers together to help you connect!
Will there be parking for my car?
There is space to park your car on a grassy car park on site. We do recommend car sharing where possible!
I’ve never been camping… help!
You don’t need to be a camping pro to pitch up at the Queer Campfire - you’re in good company, surrounded by fellow rookies and camping experts. We’ll lend a helping hand if you’re having trouble setting-up your tent or cooking brekky.
We're also working with TentShare, a sustainability-focussed peer-to-peer camping gear & tent rental site. If you have extra gear you'd be willing to rent out to other campers, we'll be creating a designated link to do so. For those looking for an affordable way to camp without buying brand new kit, look out for a link from us soon! We know that for those with accessibility needs, this is a great way to avoid carrying heavy loads if coming by public transport.
Where is the event & How do I get there?
For the safety of all guests, the exact campsite location will be provided to ticket holders only closer to the event. However, in order to help plan your trip we have provided some helpful directions to local transport:
-
The event will be at a campsite in BOREHAM WOOD, HERTFORDSHIRE
We will be creating a private Whatsapp group for all ticket holders if you wish to share travel. Please follow COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event if you are looking to taxi or lift share.
Will the weekend be COVID-19 safe?
Despite Government guidelines now having relaxed, we take the safety of our campers very seriously. We are mostly an outdoors event, but we would advise that you take a negative Lateral Flow test before attending. Please bring a mask and personal hand sanitiser. There will be sanitising stations around the campsite.
Can I get to know other campers before the event?
We’ll set up a Facebook Group and/or Whatsapp chat where you can get to know other campers before the weekend. You can even use these groups to organize car and equipment sharing!
What should I bring?
We'll be releasing a recommended packing list ahead of the weekend and keep an eye on your emails and social media for hints and tips on what to pack leading up to the event!
What is there to do on the weekend?
We keep our weekend itinerary very relaxed, so that you can make plans with new friends as you go. We do have some great activities you can join in with to help you make new pals. The 2024 Line-Up is to be announced, but to give you a feel for what's on, here's what we did in 2023:

How big is a pitch?
We can be flexible with pitch sizes depending on group sizes and vehicle/tent requirements. Our rough pitch size is 5m x 7m. Please bring a tent that suits the capacity - for example, if you're a solo camper, please try and bring a single-person or two-person tent.
Where can I pitch my van?
There is a designated area of flat grassy land for campervans. For our 2024 event, we cannot accommodate vans larger than 5.5m.

Can I Bring my motorhome?
Unfortunately the campsite cannot accommodate Motorhomes.

Do I need to print my ticket?
We’d recommend printing your tickets just in case you don’t have signal at the campsite but e-tickets will be accepted!
Can I leave the campsite?
You are free to come and go from the campsite! Your pitch is yours for the whole weekend. If you’re coming and going late at night we just ask that you are respectful of noise levels and try to avoid driving vehicles across the site/ to your pitch.
What food should I bring?
Your Saturday Night dinner meal is included in your ticket price! The epic Gregory's Kitchen will be serving your pre-ordered Street Food on Saturday evening. Closer to the time you will be able to pre-book an optional meal on Friday night from Gregory's Kitchen too. More information about the menu will be released. We will ask you about your dietary requirements on booking.
Please bring enough food for breakfast, lunches and dinners for the duration of your stay. There will be catering options available, to be announced closer to the time.

How late can I arrive?
We recommend arriving on-site Friday before it gets dark to make pitching up much easier! If you plan on arriving after 8pm on Friday, let us know via email on hello@thequeercampfire.co.uk so that we can keep an eye out and help you on site

I DON'T WANT TO BE IN PHOTOs/VIDEOS OF THE WEEKEND, HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW?
We understand if you would like to avoid being photographed or videod. We ask that you tell us explicitly before or at the very beginning of the event so we can tell our photography team and let other guests know to be sensitive when sharing content on socials. Our social media and content from the weekend may be shared in PR and third party features, and we want to make sure that we only share content of those who are happy to be featured. In buying tickets you agree to our T&Cs that clarify that we have the right to use imagery for marketing and PR, so please opt-out of this term. Please email us at thequeercampfire@outlook.com, if you have any concerns about existing content or would like to alert us to your wishes before the next event. Thank you.
